Your buddy keeps to itself.
Last updated October 12, 2026 · Applies to the Pixel Buddy desktop app and Chrome extension.
The short version
Pixel Buddy does not collect, sell, or share personal data. There is no account, no analytics, and no tracking. Everything the app needs stays on your device.
What is stored, and where
- Settings: timer lengths, theme color, the name you choose to be greeted by, and reminder preferences.
- Daily counters: focus minutes, breaks taken or skipped, and glasses of water. These reset every day.
- Buddy position on screen.
The desktop app saves these in its local app data folder. The Chrome extension saves them in your browser's extension storage. They are never sent to us or anyone else. Uninstalling removes them.
Chrome extension permissions
- Runs on websites: shows the buddy in the corner of pages you visit. It does not read, record, or change page content. To support smart break detection, it notices that you are typing, clicking, or scrolling, but never what you type or click. This signal stays inside the extension.
- Idle detection: pauses your focus timer when you step away from your computer.
- Storage, alarms, notifications, offscreen audio: save your settings, keep the timer running, show reminders, and play the reminder chime.
Network access
The app and extension work offline and make no network requests of their own. This website asks GitHub's public API which release is the latest, so it can show download links.
Children
Pixel Buddy collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
